Watch Attorney Owens Appear before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court
|

Jason Owens

Attorney Jason V. Owens appeared before the SJC on a case that centered on savings alimony.

On December 6, 2023, Attorney Owens of Lynch & Owens, PC, appeared before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) in the matter of Openshaw v. Openshaw, Docket No. SJC-13473, in a case focused on the issue of so-called “savings alimony”. Questions about savings alimony focus on whether a former spouse's alimony should include a surplus portion for the recipient to accrue post-divorce savings, or whether "need" for alimony purposes should be limited to the couple's affirmative spending during the marriage, without a savings component. View the briefs filed in the case here.
